No assembly required on this one. Its well made and sturdy. I had more trouble getting it out of the box than I did moving it into place. The drawers are solid and they glide open/closed smoothly and easily.  I am replacing an old 4 drawer file cabinet whose bottom drawer doesn't like to open. The rest are ok but they "complain" when moved. It was time to downsize and the Hirsh 2 Drawer Locking Verticle File Cabinet is worth the money! That it can be locked was an absolute necessity for me. Oh, by the way, the file cabinet fits the space  chosen for it perfectly!

This little file cabinet is exactly what I needed. It looks nice, was easy to move, and it came fully assembled -- a big plus for me!

Just right!

I purchased two of these to use in place of legs under my desk.  One did arrive with a slight ding on the side but it didn't affect the function and I just had that one face inward so it was out of sight.  The drawers slide beautifully and latch well.  I love the built in hanging folder racks instead of the free standing ones you purchase separately and install.  Would definitely recommend and purchase again.

Very satisfied

I reviewed a lot of file cabinets before deciding on this one.  I chose this one based on the reviews.  It's very nice quality for the price and I am very happy with the purchase.  I was worried for $100 I would get a flimsy cabinet that wouldn't hold what I needed it to hold but it's a lot more solid and sturdy than I expected.  I highly recommend for home use if you're in need of a file cabinet.

Great cabinet

This company makes a very good quality file cabinet.  I also have the 4 drawer unit as well.  It is very sturdy, folds the files well, glides well and you can tell it is a good quality piece.  I really appreciate the fact that is can easily be locked and the drawers cannot open without pushing the button for extra security.  This is an excellent product and it is worth it to buy from Hirsch.

Excellent quality file cabinet

Bought this filing cabinet from Walmart because the one I ordered from Amazon was delivered severely damaged due to poor packaging.  Walmart packaged this cabinet in such a way that there was ZERO indication that it was even shipped; no marks, scrapes, dents.  Perfect.  I would recommend.  The construction/durability is meant for hanging file folders, not for storing heavy items.

I would recommend

Waited awhile for this file cabinet though it arrived a day earlier than expected.  The cabinet is perfect for home use AND office use I believe.  Sturdy and drawers do slide smoothly.
However,  as others have stated, it arrived damaged.  I waited so long I was not about to pack it up and send it back.  I gently banged out the dents with a hammer and now the top drawer works fine.
I would recommend this item to others if the company would improve in their packaging and or handling.

Great item for the buck but needs better packaging

On manufacturers web site in their QA section, this file cabinet is listed as having fully extending file drawers. This model's file draws do not fully extend. After contacting the manufacturer about this issue, their only solution to this problem was for us to send it back for a refund. We then found out, we have to pay for shipping it back. The problem with that is, it costs more to ship it back than it's purchase price.
Surprised that Walmart.com allows this type of deceptive manufacturer to sell on their web site.
