The winery was founded in 1962 by Fabrizio Bianchi after receiving it as a wedding gift from his parents. That same year, Monsanto pioneered innovation in Italian red wine by creating the first Chianti Classico Cru from the single ‘Il Poggio’ vineyard and working to eliminate white grapes from the Chianti Classico Riserva blend. Dry flavor

Good wine,excellent with anything from pizza to a fine Italian dinner.

Good Italian Wine

gorgeous ruby-red wine from one of the most historically important Italian Chianti producers. Deep and complex with structured tannins, dried herbs, blood orange and hints of cherry, iron, and leather. This is a classic Chianti and significantly cheaper at Sam's than the local wine store. The vineyard is now run by the founder's daughter (for those who like to support woman-led wineries). Knowing what a value this is I'll keep buying it until Sam's stops stocking it.
